PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
The Providence College men's soccer program announced on August 23 that senior Marc Cintron (Piscataway, N.J.) and red-shirt junior Wilder Arboleda (Pawtucket, R.I.) have been named team captains for the 2012 season.
Cintron earned NSCAA All-Northeast Region First-Team honors and All-BIG EAST Third-Team recognition as a junior in 2011. He played 15 games last season and got the nod in the starting line-up each time. He finished third on the team in scoring with 11 points on three goals and a team-best five assists. Cintron recently made his first international appearance with the Puerto Rican National Team, scoring Puerto Rico's lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Spain.
Arboleda played 18 games for the Friars last season and appeared in the starting line-up 12 times. He finished fourth on the team in scoring with six points on three goals. All three of his goals were game winners.
The duo will look to provide leadership for the program on and off the field, as the team looks to make a return trip to the NCAA Tournament. Providence has earned an invitation to the NCAA Tournament in five of the last seven seasons, including back-to-back appearances in 2010 and 2011.
The Friars open the 2012 campaign on Friday, August 24 against Northeastern. The game is set for 6:00 p.m. and will be played in Boston, Mass.
