PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College senior midfielder Ryan Maduro (Bristol, R.I.) has been selected to the College Soccer News 2008 Preseason All-America First Team. He is one of three BIG EAST and four New England players selected to the First Team. Having been selected to the NSCAA All-America Team in 2006, Maduro will look to become the first Friar to earn two All-America First Team honors. Maduro has had a stellar three years with Providence. He has been a starter in all 60 games he has played for the Friars, recording 40 points on 12 goals and 16 assists. He recorded a career-high 16 points in 2007 (five goals, six assists), pacing the Friars in scoring and leading them to their third-straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Maduro has earned All-BIG EAST honors in 2005, 2006, and 2007, along with NSCAA All-Northeast Region honors in 2006 and 2007. He is the only PC footballer to earn an All-BIG EAST First Team selection and the third Friar to be named to an All-America team. The Friars open their 2008 schedule on Friday, August 29, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. against the Sacred Heart Pioneers at Glay Field on the Providence College campus.
