Mac Steeves Named To Hermann Trophy Watch List

Providence College senior men’s soccer forward Mac Steeves (Needham, Mass.) was one of 28 men’s soccer players named to the 2016 Missouri Athletics Club’s (MAC) Hermann Trophy watch list.

The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually in St. Louis at the MAC Hermann Trophy Banquet. The list will be narrowed to 15 players near the end of the collegiate regular season, and are chosen by NCAA Division I coaches.

Last season, Steeves led the Friars in points (28) with 13 goals and two assists. The senior forward notched five game-winning goals and tallied three, two-goal games. Steeves enters the 2016 season tied for second all-time at Providence in career points (63) and goals (27). A unanimous All-BIG EAST First Team selection, Steeves finished third in the league in points and second in goals.

The Friars will kick off the 2016 season on Aug. 26 against intra-state rival Rhode Island. It will mark the Friars first home game in the newly constructed Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium.
