Men’s Soccer Releases Incoming Class

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men’s soccer program and head coach Craig Stewart announced the program’s incoming freshman class for the 2018 season on Wednesday, May 23. Andualem Chisholm (North Attleboro, Mass.), Dylan Curran (Boston, Mass.), Giovani Jimenez (Turnersville, N.J.), Rimi Olatunji (Brampton, Ontario), Raimondo Partito (Phildelphia, Pa.), Ramzi Qawasmy (Lansdale, Pa.), Christopher Roman (South Glastonbury, Conn.) and Kevin Vang (Cranston, R.I.) make up the group of newcomers.

Chisholm, a 5-10, 150-pound forward, played this past season with the New England Revolution U18/19 team, scoring two goals in 13 games. Prior to the Revs, he played for Bayside FC for six years. He also competed for the Wheeler School in Providence and served as a two-time team captain.

Curran joins the Friars after graduating from Beaver Country Day School. The 6-1, 175-pound defender played academy soccer for the FC Boston Bolts under coach Dan Cadwell. So far in the 2017-18 season, he started 20 of the 21 matches he appeared in.

Jimenez attended Washington Township High School and most recently played academy for Continental FC Delco. Prior to that, the 5-8, 165-pound midfielder played with Philadelphia Union, East Brunswick and NISAOH.

Olatunji attended Cardinal Ambrozic Catholic Secondary School while competing for Toronto FC. In 2017, his team was crowned OSL U21 League Champions. Olatunji was named Goalkeeper of the Year for his efforts during the season. He stands at 6-0, 210 pounds.

Partito, a 5-9, 150-pound defender, attended YSC Academy from 2013 through 2018. He also plays for Continental FC Delco, starting 15 of his 16 games played in the 2017-18 season. His U19 futsal team was crowned the National Champions in 2017.

Qawasmy, a 6-1, 185-pound defender, joins Providence after also having attended YSC Academy from 2013 to 2018. He became the first defender at YSC Academy to join the Philadelphia Union Academy, where he played the 2017-18 season.

Roman attended Glastonbury High School and played 10 years for Oakwood Soccer Club. So far this season, the 6-1, 175-pound midfielder has started and played all 24 games for the U18/19 squad, scoring four goals.

Midfielder Kevin Vang rounds out the incoming class. The 5-4, 140-pound midfielder has played for the New England Revolution Academy since 2014. He also attended Cranston High School East, where he was named to the Best XI in the Eastern Conference for the 2016-17 season. He was named captain for the Revs squad for the 2017-18 season and has played in 20 games so far, with 19 starts and two goals.

Any additional newcomers to the men’s soccer team will be announced at a later date.
