May 10, 2018

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men’s soccer program and head coach Craig Stewart announced the program’s tri-captains for the upcoming 2018 season on May 10. Colin Miller (Bel Air, Md.), Joao Serrano (Evora, Portugal) and Brendan Constantine (Glastonbury, Conn.) will lead the Friars.

"Colin, Brendan and Joao have established themselves as leaders throughout the spring semester," Stewart said. "Each very unique in their leadership styles, we feel they will work well together and alongside their fellow upperclassmen to position the group to be successful both on and off the field."

Miller, a redshirt senior goalkeeper, has played in 34 career games as a Friar. He holds a 0.92 goals against average, a .805 save percentage and a 19-8-5 cumulative record. He has also posted 13 shutouts, including eight in the team’s run to the Elite Eight in 2016. In that same season, he was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year and to the NSCAA Div. I All-Great Lakes Region Second Team. This past season, he was honored with the team’s Martin Hayes Defensive Most Valuable Player Award.

Serrano, a redshirt junior midfielder, has played in 39 games for the Friars and totaled 3,494 minutes on the pitch. He has registered three goals and four assists for 10 career points, eight of which came in the 2017 season. At the team’s banquet this past season, he was named the David Kreinsen Unsung Hero. In 2016, Serrano was a unanimous selection to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team and was also named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team. Additionally, he was a NSCAA Div. I All-Great Lakes Region Third Team honoree.

Constantine, a senior midfielder, has totaled 55 career games and 16 points. He has racked up three goals and ten assists in three seasons with the Friars. In 2015, he was named to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team and in 2016 he was given the team’s David Kreinsen Unsung Hero Award. This past season, he made 13 starts in 15 appearances and tallied a goal at No. 4 UNC (Aug. 25).

The trio helped the Friars to a BIG EAST regular season championship and an Elite Eight appearance in 2016.
