Providence Loses to Notre Dame, 3-0
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Providence College men's soccer team was
defeated by Notre Dame, 2-0, Sunday, September 7 in BIG EAST action in
South Bend, Ind. Freshman midfielder Andrew McKnight led the Irish offense
with four points (one goal, two assists).
Notre Dame sophomore defender Alan Woods tallied the first goal of the
game when he took a feed from McKnight and blasted a shot from 10 feet past
PC junior goalkeeper Dan Pires at 20:55. Notre Dame increased its lead to
2-0 when sophomore forward Andrew Aris converted on a breakaway with 2:32
remaining in the first half.
McKnight recorded Notre Dame's third goal of the game with a shot from
the top of the box at the 55:20 mark.
Notre Dame improved its overall record to 1-1-1 and 1-0-1 in the BIG EAST,
while Providence dropped to 0-2 overall and 0-2 in the BIG EAST.
Providence College returns to action on Wednesday, September 10 against
Connecticut at PC's Glay Field.
