Men's Soccer Falls to Georgetown
WASHINGTON, DC. -- Georgetown defeated Providence College, 4-3, in BIG EAST men's soccer action Saturday, November 1 at Washington, D.C.
PC's John Costigan scored the games' first goal at the 3:12 mark in the game. Georgetown's Eric Kvello scored three consecutive goals at the 14:44, 18:26 and 27:02 marks to give the Hoyas a 3-1 lead and a hat trick for the game. Senior captain Juan Acevedo netted a goal for the Friars at 65:25 to make the score 3-2. Denis Scott scored a goal for the Hoyas at the 65:5 mark to give Georgetown a 4-2 lead. PC's Dane Smith netted a goal at the 68:42 mark to make the score 4-3.
Georgetown goalkeeper Tyler Purtill made four saves in the win. PC's Dan Pires and Chris Tate combined to make four stops in the loss.
Georgetown University improved its overall record to 12-5 and 9-2 in the BIG EAST, while Providence dropped to 3-14 overall and 1-10 in the BIG EAST.
Providence College returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 4 against Dartmouth at Hanover, N.H. at 2:00 p.m.
