Providence Defeats Rhode Island, 2-1
KINGSTON, R.I. - The Providence College men's soccer team defeated the University
of Rhode Island, 2-1, Wednesday, October 1 at Kingston, R.I.
Rhode Island scored the first goal of the game by Steven DeMoura at the 54:01 mark. Junior
midfielder Bobby Brown scored PC's first goal at the 55:52 mark on a pass from senior captain
Juan Acevedo to tie the game at 1-1. PC sophomore Michael Eisenhut netted the game-winning
goal at the 76:04 mark on a penalty kick.
PC's goalkeeper Dan Pires recorded eight stops in the win. URI's Anthony Latronica
registered five saves in the loss.
Providence improved its overall record to 3-7, while Rhode Island dropped to 2-8
overall. Providence College returns to action on Saturday, October 4 against the University of West
Virginia at Morgantown, W.Va.
