Men's Soccer Defeated By Syracuse, 1-0

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Providence College men's soccer team was defeated by Syracuse, 1-0, in BIG EAST action on Saturday, October 23 at Syracuse, N.Y. Syracuse's Ezra Prendergast scored the winning goal for the Orange. After a scoreless first half, Syracuse tallied the game's only goal in the 77th minute when Prendergast headed a corner kick from James Goodwin. For the Friars, it marked the eighth game they have lost this season by a one goal deficit. Syracuse outshot the Friars, 20-9. Providence senior goalkeeper Jeff Newman (Northboro, Mass.) made five saves in the loss. Providence returns to action on Tuesday, October 26 at Harvard at 2:30 p.m. at Syracuse, N.Y.
