SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Providence College men's soccer team rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit and forced overtime, but ultimately fell short, 3-2, at Seton Hall on Saturday night in a BIG EAST match in South Orange, N.J. With the loss, the Friars fall to 3-4-3 overall and 1-4-1 in the league. Seton Hall improves to 6-5 overall and 2-3 in conference play.

Dritan Sela opened the scoring for the Pirates in the 30th minute as he broke in alone against PC goalkeeper Timothy Murray (Haverhill, Mass.) and Sela was able to maneuver around Murray before tucking the ball into the empty net. Just 1:05 before the halftime whistle, Samuel Petrone put the Pirates up 2-0 as he took a pass from Brayan Martinez and fired a shot from 15 yards out and into the net.

The Friars scored two quick goals early in the second half to even the score (2-2). Senior Ryan Maduro (Bristol, R.I.) played a longball down the left side to junior Timothy Ritter (Weston, Mass.) who was able to beat SHU goalkeeper Paul McHenry in the 48th minute. It marked Ritter's second goal of the season. In the 55th minute, Maduro pounced on a rebound in front and fired home his first goal of the season.

The Friars had solid opportunities to take the lead, but were unable to convert in the second half as the game moved into overtime. The Pirates wasted little time in the extra session as Martinez took advantage of a loose ball in front and scored from 10 yards in the 93rd minute to give Seton Hall the win.
