Men's Soccer Falls To Boston College In Double-Overtime, 2-1

NEWTON, MASS. - The Providence College men's soccer team was defeated by Boston College, 2-1, in double overtime on Tuesday, Sept. 19 in Newton, Mass. The Eagles were awarded a penalty kick 2:08 into the second overtime after a collision in the box, and Simon Enstrom converted the kick to win the game.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
- The Friars outshot the Eagles 9-5 in the first half.
- The Eagles took a 1-0 lead early in the second half (52nd minute). Heidar Aegisson threw the ball into the box, where Raphael Salama was able to flick it on. Junior Abe Bibas then headed the ball over Colin Miller (Bel Air, Md.) for his first goal of the season.
- Mac Steeves (Needham, Mass.) nearly found the equalizer five minutes later. His chance off of Joao Serrano's corner kick glanced off the far-post.
- It took about thirty more minutes, but Steeves did find the equalizer at 84:44. Danny Griffin (Wethersfield, Conn.) played the ball across the goal mouth from the right side. Matt DePerro (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) was able to flick the ball through for Steeves' one-time finish.
- Griffin and DePerro both earned their first points of the 2017 season. For DePerro, the assist marks the first point of his career.
- Miller made one save in the game for the Friars.
- This game marked the third time the Friars have gone to overtime this season. It also is the second-consecutive overtime game, after Providence tied DePaul 0-0 on Saturday night.
- The Friars' Braden Kline (Lancaster, Pa.) hit the cross bar 1:08 into the second overtime and exactly one-minute later, BC's Simon Enstrom won the game on a penalty kick.
- The Friars out-shot the Eagles, 21-14, including a 6-3 edge in shots on goal.
- Boston College held the advantage in corners, 8-7.
