PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's soccer team (3-0-3, 1-0-1 BIG EAST) played to a 0-0 tie against the University of Cincinnati (2-2-2, 0-0-1 BIG EAST) on Friday, September 19 at Glay Field. It marked the second consecutive match that has ended in a scoreless draw for the Friars, who extended their unbeaten streak to six games, their longest since 2005 when they began the season with a nine-match unbeaten streak (4-0-5).

The Bearcats had the better scoring chances in the in the first half. In the seventh minute, Nick Weightmann fired a shot from 20 yards out that junior goalkeeper Tim Murray (Haverhill, Mass.) was able to make a diving save with his right hand. In the 22nd minute, D.J. Albert ripped a right-footed shot that glanced off the left post.

Providence created some of its best scoring opportunities in the second overtime as they had a 4-1 shot advantage. Freshman Chris Stoker (Holden, Mass.) fired a shot from 22 yards out in the 107th minute, but goalkeeper Matt Williams made a diving save to his left. In the 108th minute, senior Ryan Maduro (Bristol, R.I.) drove a volley from the top of the 18-yard box, but Williams was there again to make the save. Williams finished with six saves, while Murray stopped five shots and extended his shutout streak to 436:27.

The Friars are back in action on Sunday, September 21 when they host No. 19/16 Louisville at 1:00 p.m. in Providence.
