FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield University defeated Providence College, 3-2, in men's soccer action on Wednesday, September 6 in Fairfield, Conn.

Friar freshman midfielder Johnathan Rhode (Guilford, Conn.) netted the only goal of the first half at 16:57 to give PC a 1-0 lead after 45 minutes of action. The Stags' offense came to life in the second half and netted two quick goals by Adam Braz at 46:52 and Dave Mancini at 50:28. Junior Mauricio Solano (Coral Springs, Fla.) evened the game for PC when he blasted in a rebound at 64:16. However, Rob DeFaveri took a feed from Braz and fired a shot past Friar goalkeeper Danny Glynn (Manchester, England) at 68:40 for what proved to be the game-winning goal.

Fairfield goalkeeper Roger Noll made three saves in the win. Glynn recorded four saves for the Friars.

With the victory, Fairfield raised its record to 3-0 overall, while Providence fell to 0-3 overall.

Providence College returns to action on Saturday, September 9 against West Virginia at PC's Glay Field at 2:00 p.m.
