Men's Lacrosse To Hold Coaches Clinic

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men’s lacrosse program is set to host its first coaches’ clinic for the 2017-18 academic year on Nov. 20. The clinic will be held in the Class of 1991 Video Room in Schneider Arena at 7:00 p.m.

The keynote speakers will be Head Coach Chris Gabrielli (Individual and Team Defense), Assistant Coach Matt Francis (Face-Off Game, Man-Down Defense) and Assistant Coach Matt Musci (Individual and Team Offense).

The Providence College men’s lacrosse team finished the 2017 season with a 10-7 record and a 3-2 mark in BIG EAST play. The 10-7 record marked the most victories in a single season since 2006 and 10 program wins in the 2017 season are tied for the most in program history.

Last season, the Friars finished in third place in the BIG EAST Conference final standings. This marked the second-consecutive year the Friars advanced to the BIG EAST Tournament, since the conference began sponsoring lacrosse in 2010.

In the 2017 BIG EAST Semifinal, the Friars defeated the No. 2 seeded then-No.15/15 Villanova 10-7. The victory marked the first time in program history that Providence claimed a BIG EAST Tournament victory and moved on to the championship game.

All coaches are invited to attend. To RSVP to the event, coaches should email Matt Francis at mfranci2@providence.edu.
