PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team is set to participate in the Catamount Classic on Sunday, October 7. The fall lacrosse tournament is scheduled to be held at Thayer Academy's off-campus turf fields, located at 1535 Washington Street in Braintree, Mass.

Nine NCAA Division I men's lacrosse teams are scheduled to participate in the event, which has raised $130,000 over the last four years for cancer research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

The Friars will compete in two games at the Catamount Classic, including an 8:00 a.m. match-up against Quinnipiac and a 10:00 a.m. game against Hartford. This weekend's competition vs. Quinnipiac and Hartford marks the first for the Friars under newly appointed Head Coach Chris Gabrielli. Gabrielli, who played collegiately at UMass, spent the last six seasons as an assistant at Duke University. While at Duke, Gabrielli helped guide the program to six NCAA Final Four appearances (2007-12) and two trips to the National Championship game (2007, 2010). The Blue Devils went on to win the National Championship in 2010. Duke also captured five ACC regular-season titles (2007-09, 2011-12) and four ACC Tournament titles (2007-09, 2012).
