PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
On Saturday September 28th the Providence College lacrosse program held its annual Alumni Weekend.
The day kicked off with guided tours from Head Coach Chris Gabrielli of the new lacrosse locker room and training suite. Alumni, parents and recruits had the opportunity to see the new first-class facilities and donors who sponsored lockers could see first-hand the impact of their donations.
Following the tours, the alumni faced off against the 2014 Friars in the annual alumni game. More than 50 alumni returned for the event and parents and fans got to see a first look at this year's Friar team.
The day concluded with a Friends of Friar Lacrosse reception in McPhail's in the Slavin Center. Alumni had the opportunity to meet Head Coach Chris Gabrielli and hear from Athletic Director Bob Driscoll who presented on the excitement that surrounds the program and the plans in place to build a championship program in Providence.
"This is an important weekend for our program because it ties in the past, present and future of Friar lacrosse," said Head Coach Chris Gabrielli. "It was great for so many of our alumni, parents and recruits to see the facilities that our student-athletes will call home. I want to especially thank all of our alumni and parents who made leadership gifts to our program to make these facilities a reality. We are on the brink of creating something very special here at PC and great days are ahead for Friar lacrosse."
