EDISON N.J. - Four year Providence College Men's Lacrosse player Mark Rotella (Smithtown, N.Y.) was recently named to the MAAC Academic Honor Roll.

To be eligible for the MAAC Academic Honor Roll, an athlete must uphold a grade point average of 3.20 on a four point scale and be at least in his or her second year of athletic eligibility. The Honor Roll is open to both full-time and associate members of the MAAC with athletes represented in all 25 sports that the conference sponsors.

Rotella was the ideal student-athlete at Providence during his four year career. He was awarded a Post-Graduate Scholarship from the NCAA this spring. He also became the first lacrosse player in Providence College history to earn Academic All-America honors as a member of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Men's At-Large University Division Third Team. For the second-consecutive year, Rotella was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I At-Large First Team. He also was selected to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Scholar-Athlete Team and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Academic Team.
