Men's Lacrosse Defenseman John Tunney To Participate In NEILA East/West All-Star Game

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College senior defenseman John Tunney (Medfield, Mass.) has been selected to compete in the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's annual East/West All-Star Game on Sunday, May 31 at 1:00 p.m. The game will be played on the campus of Tufts University at Bello Field in Medford, Mass.

Tunney joins 36 other New England college lacrosse players in the all-star game. The two sides will be coached by Jay Delanoy of Southern New Hampshire University and Randy Fuller of Western New England College.

The NEILA East-West All Star Game is a unique opportunity to recognize some of the top senior collegiate players throughout the New England Region and incorporates student-athletes from Divisions I, II and III.

Tunney played in 49 career games at PC and was a defensive leader for the Friars during his senior season. He started all 16 games in 2009 and picked up 19 ground balls and caused seven turnovers. He picked up 51 career ground balls during his career at Providence.
