PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's lacrosse program has announced its two Friar'ed Up Lacrosse Camp sessions for the 2013 summer. The Friar'ed Up camps aim for participants to leave Providence College with vast improvement in their lacrosse IQ, character, discipline and enjoyment of the game. The first session will take place from July 8 through July 11 and the second session is scheduled for the week of July 15.
The camp will be run by Head Coach Chris Gabrielli and assistant coaches, John Galloway and Brett Holm. The coaching staff has just completed its first season at Providence where it led the Friars to an overall record of 8-8. The staff brought an aggressive and fast paced mentality that allowed for the Friars' most successful season since 2006. Each member of the Friars' staff has been a part of winning a NCAA National Championship, and together, combine for four titles.
"My staff and I value teaching the game," Gabrielli commented. "We will focus on instructing players on fundamentals while teaching them an aggressive and fast paced style of play. We stress the importance of enjoying the game in addition to exemplifying a strong willingness to compete."
Current Friar players also will team up with the coaching staff to deliver the full collegiate student-athlete experience to all camp participants.
The camp will focus on teaching fundamentals and developing players into fundamentally sound players. Participants will be introduced to new concepts and philosophies from some of the top coaches in the country. The camp aims to show participants what coaches expect out of their players at the collegiate level. The coaches will promote all of the values and characteristics that they expect in their own student-athletes.
All Friar'ed Up camps and clinics provide student-athletes with a unique opportunity to compete at a private institution in front of Division I coaches. Participants will utilize the same facilities that the Friar lacrosse program uses on a day to day basis.
