Men's Lacrosse Jarrod Neumann and Jimmy Cunningham Earn NEILA Academic All-New England Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) announced its All-New England Academic Team today [May 18]. Senior defensemen Jarrod Neumann (Springfield, Mass.) and Jimmy Cunningham (Syracuse, N.Y.) were All-New England Academic selections.

The Academic All-New England team is made up of 75 senior men’s lacrosse players which were nominated by Division I, II and III head coaches. Selected student-athletes demonstrated an excellent commitment on the field and in the classroom during their collegiate career.

Neumann was previously named to the NEILA All-New England First Team and the All-BIG EAST First Team. He also earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year during the season. Neumann collected 27 groundballs, caused 18 turnovers and registered two goals and one assist during the 2017 campaign.

Cunningham collected 41 groundballs and caused 22 turnovers during the 2017 season. Together, Neumann and Cunningham anchored the Friar defense to its second-consecutive BIG EAST Tournament appearance and its first program appearance in the BIG EAST Tournament Championship game.
