PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College senior lacrosse player Pat James (Lansdale, Pa.) was named to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association 2007 Senior Scholar-Athlete Team. The announcement was made by the NEILA office on Wednesday, May 16. The Scholar-Athlete Team acknowledges graduating seniors from their respective schools, who have earned a 3.0 cumulative grade point average or better, in addition to achieving excellence on the playing field.

James, a defender, is a two-time Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Academic selection (2006, 2007). He also earned All-MAAC Second-Team honors for the first time in his career at the completion of the 2007 season. During the year, James played all 17 games and appeared in the starting line-up 14 times. He collected a single-season career high of 30 groundballs and helped guide Providence to the MAAC Tournament title and a bid to the NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Tournament.

The Friars completed the year with a 7-10 overall record and a 5-3 mark in the MAAC. Providence won seven of its final nine games of the season, including five-straight MAAC games to clinch a spot in the four-team MAAC Tournament for the seventh-consecutive season. Providence, the No. 4 seed in the MAAC Tournament, defeated top-seeded Siena (9-7) in the semifinals on May 4. The Friars then knocked off third-seeded St. Joseph's (9-4) to earn their third MAAC title in the last four years.
