PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Game times for the 2005 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) men's lacrosse championship were announced by the MAAC office on Monday, May 2. The four-team MAAC Championship begins on Friday, May 6 with a pair of semifinal games at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The Friars, who enter the tournament as the No. 1 seed, will play No. 4 Marist at 7:00 p.m. In the other semifinal match-up, No. 2 Mount St. Mary's will face No. 3 Manhattan at 4:00 p.m.

The winner of each semifinal game will advance to the MAAC Championship game, slated for Noon on Sunday, May 8. All games will be played at Leonidoff Field on the campus of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The winner of the MAAC Championship crown will earn the league's automatic berth to the 2005 NCAA Tournament.

Providence College (8-7) is the defending MAAC Tournament Champion. The Friars earned the 2005 MAAC Regular-Season title with a record of 7-1 in league action. It marks the second regular-season MAAC title all-time for the Friars since joining the league in 1996. This season, Providence is making its fifth-consecutive appearance at the MAAC Championship Tournament.
