PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Andrew McMinn (Pittsburgh, Pa.), a senior goalkeeper on the Providence College men's lacrosse team was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, April 25. It marks the second time he has earned the honor during the 2005 season, and fifth time in his career. McMinn, an All-MAAC Second-Team selection in 2003, led the Friars to a 2-0 record last week with victories against Marist (7-3) on April 20 and Wagner (10-6) on April 23. For the week, McMinn recorded a 3.58 goals against average and collected a total of 14 saves (eight vs. Marist). He has allowed five goals or less in each of PC's last four games, including each of the Friars' victories last week. Providence College (6-7, 5-1 MAAC) finishes the season with MAAC games at Manhattan on April 27 and at home against Canisius on April 30. The Friars are looking to clinch a spot in the four-team MAAC Championship Tournament for the fifth-consecutive season. In 2004, the Friars won their first-ever MAAC Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship for the first time in program history.
