EDISON, N.J. - Senior goaltender John Farley (West Simsbury, Conn.) has been named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Goaltender of the Week, and freshman attacker Dan Giuntini (Flora Park, N.Y.) has been selected as the Rookie of the Week. The announcement was made by the MAAC office on Tuesday, April 2, and honors each athlete for their performance during the week of March 25-31.

Farley helped the Friars move into first place in the MAAC standings and stay undefeated in the conference by backstopping Providence to two conference wins last week. Farley earns the Defensive Player of the Week honor for the second-straight week, and the fourth time in his career. He posted 20 saves and a 7.20 goals against average in 100 minutes of action. On March 26, Farley recorded 11 saves en route to a 12-7 victory over Marist. On March 30, he collected nine saves in a 23-8 win over Siena.

Giuntini recorded six goals and two assists in the Friars' two wins last week. Against Marist, Giuntini scored three goals, including the eventual game-winner, and added one assist. He followed up with his third-straight three-goal performance versus Siena, and added one assist. The freshman leads Providence in goals scored (12) and is second overall on the team in scoring (17 points).

The Friars are 6-2 overall, and hold a 3-0 record in MAAC action through eight games. Providence was picked to finish third in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, released on March 13. PC faces Hartford today (Tuesday) at 3:30 in Hartford, Connecticut. The Friars return to conference play at Canisius on Saturday, April 6 at 10:00 a.m., in Buffalo, N.Y.
