Men's Lacrosse Plays Host To Yale

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's lacrosse is set to host Yale on Tuesday, April 1 at the Ray Treacy Track Complex in Providence, R.I.

The Friars trail Yale in the all-time series, 0-6. The Friars and Bulldogs last met on April 2, 2013 where Providence fell to Yale, 13-6, in New Haven, Conn. Each of Providence's six goals was scored by players that return to the roster for Tuesday's match-up. Sophomore Kevin Blair (Hingham, Mass.) led the Friar effort with two goals and one assist. Seniors Andrew Barton (Timonium, Md.) and Sean Wright (Silver Spring, Md.) along with junior Greg FitzMaurice (Huntington, N.Y.) and sophomore Brendon McGuire (Wyckoff, N.J.) tallied one goal apiece.

Providence enters Tuesday's game with an overall record of 3-7 (0-2 BIG EAST). The Friars last competed on Saturday, March 29 where they fell to St. John's 14-7. Barton led the Friar effort with four points on three goals and one assist. Three additional Friars found the back of the cage, including Wright, Blair and freshman Austin Goltz (Orchard Park, N.Y.). Senior Tyler Himes (Spring City, Pa.) played 58:40 in between the pipes and posted 12 saves.

Barton leads Providence in scoring with 34 points on 21 goals and 13 assists. Wright ranks second on the team with 31 points on 17 goals and 14 assists. Freshman Alex Corboy (College Park, Md.) leads the freshman class in scoring with 19 points on 17 goals and two assists. Freshman Joseph Fitzpatrick (Rockville, Md.) and FitzMaurice round out the Friars' leading scorers with 14 and 12 points respectively.



Senior face-off specialist Ryan Shaw (East Hampton, N.Y.) has won 71-of-158 attempts at the "X" for a .449 win percentage.

Himes has started each of Providence's 10 games in the cage and has posted 97 saves for a .515 save percentage.

SCOUTING YALE: The Bulldogs enter Tuesday's match-up with an overall record of 4-3 including a 1-2 mark in conference play. Three Bulldogs own double digit tallies in the scoring column. Brandon Mangan and Conrad Oberbeck lead Yale in scoring with 23 points each. Shane Thorton has posted 10 points on three goals and seven assists. Eric Natale has played 413:02 minutes in goal and has recorded 59 saves. He owns a .500 save percentage and a 8.57 goals against average.
