Men's Lacrosse Prepared To Face-Off Against No. 12 Bryant

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team is set to host No. 12 Bryant on Tuesday, March 25 at the turf field located at Ray Treacy Track in Providence, R.I. The Friars and Bulldogs will face-off at 7:00 p.m.

    Providence enters Tuesday night with an overall record of 3-5 (0-1 BIG EAST). The Friars last competed on Saturday, March 22 when Providence fell to cross-town rival Brown, in double overtime, 12-11. Senior attack Andrew Barton (Timonium, Md.) paced the Friar offense with seven points on five goals and two assists. Senior goalie Tyler Himes (Spring City, Pa.) had a solid night between the pipes where he posted a career-high 16 saves.

    Barton leads the Friar score sheet with 29 points on 17 goals and a team-high 12 assists. Fellow senior Sean Wright (Silver Spring, Md.) ranks second on the team in scoring with 26 points on 16 goals and 10 assists. Three additional Friars have tallied double digits in the scoring column. Freshman Alex Corboy (College Park, Md.) has notched 19 points on 17 goals and two assists while junior Greg FitzMaurice (Huntington, N.Y.) and freshman Joseph Fitzpatrick (Rockville, Md.) have posted 12 points apiece.

    Senior face-off specialist Ryan Shaw (East Hampton, N.Y.) owns a .441 win percentage at the face-off "X." Shaw has won 52-of-118 attempts and has collected a team-high 28 ground balls.

    Himes has started each of the Friars' eight games in the cage. In 407:46 minutes between the pipes, Himes has posted a .506 save percentage with 78 saves.

     

     

    SCOUTING BRYANT: The Bryant University Bulldogs enter Tuesday night's match-up with an overall record of 6-2 including a 1-0 record in conference play. James Tucker and Shane Morrell lead the Bulldogs in scoring with 20 points apiece. Both Tucker and Morrell have tallied 13 goals each in addition to dishing out seven assists. Collins Gantz (16), Dan Sipperly (15), Alex Zomerfeld (14) and Colin Dunster (12) round out the Bulldogs' top scorers. Kevin Massa owns a .500 win percentage at the face-off "X," having won 118-of-174 attempts. Matt Macgrotty leads Bryant's defensive core with a team-high nine caused turnovers. In addition Macgrotty has collected 22 ground balls. Gunnar Waldt has played 478:55 minutes in goal for the Bulldogs and has posted 106 saves. Waldt owns a .631 save percentage in addition to a 7.77 goals against average.
