The Providence College men's lacrosse team is prepared to face-off against Fairfield on Tuesday, March 4 at Alumni FIeld in Fairfield, Conn. The Friars and Stags each carry a 2-1 record into Tuesday afternoon's match-up. Each of Providence's wins have come on the road.
Senior attack Sean Wright (Silver Spring, Md.) leads the Friar offense with nine points on five goals and a team-high four assists. Freshman Alex Corboy (College Park, Md.) ranks second on the team in scoring with eight points on a squad-best seven goals goals and one assist.
Freshman defenseman Jarrod Neumann (Springfield, Mass.) leads the defensive core with seven caused turnovers. In addition Neumann has picked up a team-high nine ground balls. Senior Ryan Shaw (East Hampton, N.Y.) serves as the Friars face-off man and has posted a .458 win percentage at the "X" and has successfully won 11-of-24 attempts.
Senior goalie Tyler Himes (Spring CIty,Pa.) has started each of the Friars' three games. In 150 minutes between the pipes, Himes has tallied 24 saves and posted a .500 saves percentage.
SCOUTING FAIRFIELD: The Stags enter Tuesday with a 2-1 record.Tristian Sperry leads Fairfield with 13 points on eight goals and five assists. Eric Warden ranks second for the Stags in scoring with 11 points on a team-high 10 goals and one assist. Fairfield has outscored its opponents by a 22 goal margin (43-21) and has outshot their opponents, 103-91. Jack Murphy has played 165:24 minutes in the cage and has tallied 26 saves on 84 shots faced. Murphy owns a 6.89 goals against average in addition to a .578 saves percentage. In addition, the Stags are clearing the ball at .933 percent.
