Providence Men's Lacrosse Announces 2007 Team Captains
Jan. 16, 2007 PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College Head Coach Chris Burdick has announced the Friars Men's Lacrosse captains for the 2007 season. The team will be led by James Courter, Peter Littell, and Jason Trout. James Courter (Lincoln Park, NJ, Don Bosco Prep) enters his third year as team captain at Providence. The senior defender is a two time all-MAAC performer and was the recipient of the 2006 Mark C. Cordon "Heart and Soul" Award, the highest honor given each year to a Providence College lacrosse player. Senior goaltender Peter Littell joins Courter in his second term as team captain. As a junior, Littell (Montclair, NJ, Montclair HS) ranked #9 in the nation with a .589 save percentage and #14 in the nation with a 7.82 goals against average. Littell was also named the teams Defensive MVP while leading the Friars to their second NCAA tournament in three years. Jason Trout (Baltimore, MD, The Park School) enters his second year as team captain after serving as an assistant captain in is sophomore season. Jason looks to have a breakout year as he has battled back from numerous injuries and is eager for an opportunity to help the Friars get back to the NCAA championships in 2007. The 2007 roster contains eleven seniors and one graduate student that will all see considerable action this season for the Friars. In addition to the three captains, graduate student Mike Farley returns for his last year of eligibility. The 2006 USILA All-American will be joined by senior attackmen Brendan Ryan and Bennett Murphy, senior midfielders Henry Pynchon, Mark Bundra, and Mark Dillon, and senior defenders Pat James, Tom Wenskus, and Chris Chalke.
"You couldn't ask for a better group of young men to lead a program," Friar Head Coach Chris Burdick said. "These three individuals have eight years of captainship between them, bringing a wealth of experience to the most important roll on this team."
