Men's Lacrosse Drops Season Finale To Albany, 14-11
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Albany defeated Providence College, 14-11, in men's lacrosse action on Saturday, May 6 at Providence, R.I. Senior Dan Small led Albany with five goals and two assists in the win. Paced by three first period goals by sophomore Chris Houston, the Friars held a 4-3 lead after 15 minutes of action. Albany netted six goals in the second quarter, including three by Small, to take a 9-7 lead at halftime. Junior Jim Dooley, senior Dan Moran and senior Ken Leahy all scored in the third quarter as PC outscored the Danes, 3-2, and trailed 11-10 after 45 minutes of play. However, the Albany defense limited the Friars to one goal in the final quarter and its offense scored three goals to earn the 14-11 victory. Junior goaltender Mike Shelli registered 11 stops in the win. Seniors Kevin Kelley and Brian McCarthy and freshman John Farley combined to make 11 saves for Providence With the victory, Albany finished the season with a 6-5 record, while Providence concluded its season with a 5-10 mark.
