The Providence College men's lacrosse team fell to St. Joseph's, 12-11, in overtime during MAAC semifinal action on Friday, May 2 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Junior Ryan Russell (Montvale, N.J.), senior Skip Dunphy (Manhasset, N.Y.) and senior Jon Meehan (Peabody, Mass.) led the Friar effort with three goals each. Providence concludes its season with a 7-9 overall record.
St. Joseph's Brian Mullan scored the game-winning goal in the four-minute sudden victory overtime period at the 2:31 mark off of an assist from Keegan Wilkinson. Mullan led the Hawks with finished the night with a game-high six points on one goal and five assists. Wilkinson finished the night with three points on three assists.
In goal, sophomore Andrew McMinn (Pittsburgh, Pa.) took the loss with just three saves. For St. Joseph's, Dan Morrissey played 34:24 and allowed six goals while making two saves. He was replaced by Travis McDonnell, who earned the win, allowing just five goals while making two saves.
The game, originally scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., was delayed because of a passing thunderstorm. The two teams faced off beginning at 8:40.
