Lacrosse Ends Season with a 9-5 Win Vs. Hartford

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College Friars earned their fourth consecutive win as they closed out the season with a 9-5 victory against the Hartford Hawks in men's lacrosse action on Saturday, May 1 at Providence, R.I. Friar senior Matt Pymm tallied one goal and two assists in the contest to become PC's all-time leading scorer with 184 points (82 goals, 102 assists).

The Friars led 2-0 after 15 minutes of action on goals by sophomore Jon Lacks and junior Ken Leahy. However, the Hawks battled back in the second quarter, outscoring PC, 5-2, to take a one-goal lead into halftime. Junior Tracey Kelusky led the Hartford offense in the second quarter with two goals.

Sophomore Jack Cullinane netted two of his three goals in the final 30 minutes to help PC earn the win. The Friar defense shutdown the Hawks and allowed no goals in the second half of the game.

With 2:42 remaining game, Pymm scored the Friars' ninth goal of the game and his 184th point to break former Friar Chris McManus' (1993-97) mark of 183 points.

Senior netminder Rob Chambers recorded 15 saves in the victory for PC. Sophomore Paul Caracci had 15 stops for the Hawks.

With the win, Providence ended its season with a 5-10 mark, while Hartford finished with an 8-7 record.
