Final Stats

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team dropped a 6-3 decision to 14th-ranked Brown in non-conference action on Tuesday, April 27 at Glay Field in Providence, R.I. PC goaltender Andrew McMinn (Pittsburgh, Pa.) allowed just six Brown goals and registered 16 saves in the effort. Brown's Chazz Woodson led all scorers with three goals, including the eventual game-winner. Junior Dan Giuntini (Floral Park, N.Y.) and sophomore Michael Farley (Westfield, N.J.) led the Friars with one goal and one assist each.

The Friars jumped on the scoreboard first as Farley scored at the 12:03 mark of the first quarter off a feed from Giuntini. Woodson tied the game, 1-1, on an unassisted goal with 5:23 remaining in the quarter. In the second quarter, Brown scored three unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead into halftime. Richard Tuohey struck first at the 4:36 mark, followed by a goals from Britton Derkac (3:32) and Woodson (3:00). All three goals were unassisted.

Brown opened the third quarter with two-straight goals to take a 6-1 advantage. Woodson scored his third goal of the game off an assist from David Madeira with 13:02 on the clock. Will Davis followed with an unassisted goal at the 9:44 mark. Davis' goal proved to be the final tally of the day for the Bears.

Providence found the back of the net with 8:10 remaining in the third quarter to make the score 6-2. Sophomore Tom Kelly (Henniker, N.H.) was credited with the goal off an assist from freshman Brendan Ryan (Chatham, N.J.). Giuntini connected on a goal for the Friars with 46-seconds left in the game to make the final score, 6-3. Giuntini's goal was assisted by Farley.

McMinn played well between the pipes for PC as he recorded 16 saves on 30 Brown shot attempts. Twenty-two of Brown's 30 shots were on goal. Mike Levin earned the win for Brown with six saves. Junior Mark Rotella (Smithtown, N.Y.) won seven-of-12 face-off attempts on the day, as the Friars finished the game seven-of-13. Providence held the advantage in groundballs, 26-24, and killed off each of Brown's three man-advantage attempts on three PC penalties.

Providence (6-7, 5-2 MAAC) will host Manhattan in the team's regular-season finale on Saturday, May 1 in Providence, R.I. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. and will be played at Glay Field on the campus of Providence College (Providence, R.I.).
