– The 20th-ranked Providence College men’s lacrosse team was defeated by the third-ranked University of Denver, 12-2, on Saturday, April 22 in Denver, Colo. The Friars move to 9-5 on the season and 3-1 in BIG EAST play. The Pioneers improve to 10-2 overall and post an undefeated mark in the BIG EAST, 4-0. Conner Byrne (Hicksville, N.Y.) and Ryan Nawrocki (Smithtown, N.Y.) each registered a goal for the Friars.

 
Denver led 1-0 at the close of the first quarter. Pioneers Austin French registered the lone goal at 3:27. Denver extended the score to 6-0 at the close of the second half.
 
Each of Friar tallies came in the third quarter. Byrne registered the first Friar goal with 12:49 remaining in the quarter. Nawrocki recorded the second goal at 7:18 to decrease the Friars’ deficit to, 7-2.
 
Denver scored five unanswered goals in the fourth quarter to capture its fourth consecutive BIG EAST win.
 
Goaltender Tate Boyce (Matthews, N.C.) recorded 10 saves on the game. Pioneer Alex Ready registered nine saves.
 
The Friars will be back in action on Saturday, April 29 against No. 18/18 Villanova. Prior to the game, Providence will honor Its graduating seniors.
