    PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College defeated Manhattan College, 20-7, in men's lacrosse action at PC's Glay Field.

    Led by Jeff Merklinger's two goals, the Friars jumped out to a 7-1 first quarter lead and continued to control the game offensively for the final 45 minutes. Sophomore Ken Leahy paced the Friar attack with four goals and two assists. Freshman Wayne Sitar led the Jaspers with one goal and three assists.

    Providence netminders Brian McCarthy and Rob Chambers combined made seven stops in the win. Matt Feudi registered 23 saves for Manhattan.

    With the win Providence raised its record to 4-6 overall and 3-4 in MAAC action, while Manhattan dropped to 1-10 overall and 0-6 in league play.

    PC returns to action on Sunday, April 19 against Dartmouth at PC's Glay Field.
