Men's Lacrosse Falls To Holy Cross, 10-6

The Providence College men's lacrosse team was defeated by Holy Cross, 10-6, in non-conference action on Thursday, April 10 in Worcester, Mass. The Friars led, 5-4, after the completion of the first half, but the Crusaders rallied to score six unanswered goals during the third quarter to take the lead, while holding Providence scoreless until six minutes remaining in the game. Senior Skip Dunphy (Manhasset, N.Y.) scored two goals for the Friars, while senior Jon Meehan (Peabody, Mass.), sophomore John Hollister (Longmeadow, Mass.), and freshmen Tom Kelly (Henniker, N.H.) and Michael Farley (Westfield, N.J.) each netted one goal apiece. Hollister also added two assists, while Dunphy, Meehan and junior David Krasnica (Mendham, N.J.) had one assist each. Billy Klotz picked up his fourth hat-trick of the season as he scored four goals to lead Holy Cross to its first victory of the year. Sophomore Andrew McMinn (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and freshman Ron Westgate (Forestdale, Mass.) combined to make seven saves in goal for Providence in the loss, while Brian Hodgdon took the win for the Crusaders with seven saves. Providence (3-6, 3-0 MAAC) will travel to Stony Brook, N.Y. to face Manhattan in MAAC action on Wednesday, April 16 at 3:00 p.m.
