Men's Lacrosse Falls To No. 6 Notre Dame, 9-1

    SOUTH BEND, IND. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team fell to No. 6 Notre Dame, 9-1, during BIG EAST action on April 7 in South Bend, Ind. Providence drops to 1-9 overall on the year, including 0-4 in the BIG EAST Conference. Notre Dame improves to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in league play.

    Peter Wujciak (Essex Fells, N.J.) scored what proved to be the Friars' lone goal of the afternoon with 11:57 remaining in the second quarter, making the score 3-1, in favor of the Irish. Wujciak's goal was assisted by Jake Nolan (Westport, Conn.).

    The Irish finished the game with six unanswered goals en route to the 9-1 win. Westy Hopkins led the way for Notre Dame with three goals and one assist. Conor Doyle added two goals in the victory.

    The Irish held a 37-18 advantage in shots on the afternoon, but the Friars held the edge in ground balls (17-15) and face offs. Providence won nine-of-14 opportunities at the "X".

    Christian Dzwilewski took the loss in goal for Providence and made 11 saves. John Kemp earned the win for Notre Dame with seven saves.
