PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College Friars defeated Marist College, 12-6, Saturday, March 28 in men's lacrosse action at PC's Glay Field. Providence sophomore Ken Leahy led the Friar offense with three goals.
Providence held a 2-1 lead after the first quarter on two goals by Leahy. PC extended its lead in the second quarter by outscoring Marist 3-1. With the help of two goals by junior Matt Pymm, the Friars took control of the game in the third quarter increasing their lead to 8-3. Both teams increased the offense in the fourth quarter as Marist added three goals and the Friars tallied four.
Marist junior Stuart MacMillan led all scorers in the game with five points (two goals, three assists).
Providence netminder Rob Chambers made a season high 20 stops. Marist goalkeeper P.J. Wilson made 19 saves in the loss.
With the win Providence raised its record to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in MAAC action, while Marist dropped to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in league play.
PC returns to action on Sunday, March 29 against the Siena College at Glay Field.
