CAMBRIDGE, MASS. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team was defeated by Harvard, 8-3, in a non-conference match-up on Tuesday, March 25 in Cambridge, Mass. Sophomore Dan Giuntini (Floral Park, N.Y.), sophomore Sean Kirwan (Drexel Hill, Pa.) and senior Jon Meehan (Peabody, Mass.) each scored one goal in the Friar effort, as Providence falls to 1-3 overall on the season.

Matt Primm and Anders Johnson led the Crimson as they registered two goals and one assist each in the victory. The Crimson held a 3-0 lead at the completion of the first quarter, and never looked back enroute to the five-goal victory (8-3).

Providence found the back of the cage once in the second quarter as Giuntini cut the Crimson lead to two-goals (3-1) with 9:12 on the clock. Kirwan and Meehan each connected on a goal in the third quarter at the 3:31 mark and the 2:23 mark, respectively, but the Friars would remain scoreless the rest of the game.

Jake McKenna earned the win for the Crimson in goal, giving up just three goals and making nine saves. Sophomore Andrew McMinn (Pittsburgh, Pa.) started in goal for the Friars and played just 35:31 minutes before being replaced by freshman Ron Westgate (Forestdale, Mass.). McMinn faced 28 shots, allowed seven goals and recorded nine saves. Westgate allowed just one goal, while facing eight shots and recording two saves.

Providence (1-3, 1-0 MAAC) will return to action on Saturday, March 29 against Vermont in a non-conference game at 2:00 p.m. The game is scheduled to be played at Glay Field on the campus of Providence College in Providence, R.I.
