Men's Lacrosse Loses on the Road

    PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The Providence College Friars were defeated, 21-13, by St. Joseph's University on Wednesday, March 18 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men's lacrosse action at Philadelphia, Pa. Senior attack Bill Oakes paced the Hawks' offense with a game high 10 points (five goals, five assists).

    Providence trailed 10-5 at halftime but gave up eight goals in the third quarter, which allowed St. Joseph's to open up the game. The Friars were led on offense by sophomore Ken Leahy who registered three goals and three assists.

    PC goalkeepers Brian McCarthy and Rob Chambers combined to make 20 saves in the loss.

    With the win, St. Joseph's raised its record to 1-3 overall and 1-0 in the MAAC, while Providence dropped to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in league play.

    PC returns to action on Saturday, March 21 against Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, Md. at 1:00 p.m.
