Men's Lacrosse Drops a 3-1 Decision to Stony Brook
STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- In a defensive struggle Stony Brook defeated Providence College, 3-1, in men's lacrosse action on Saturday, March 13 at Stony Brook, N.Y. Dave Ozsvath scored two goals, including the game winner, to lead the Seawolves to victory.
Stony Brook took a 2-0 first quarter lead on goals by Jon Tompkins and Ozsvath. After Ozsvath's goal with 2:57 remaining in the first quarter, the two teams went scoreless for 31 minutes until PC's Ken Leahy notched the Friars' only goal with 2:11 remaining in the third quarter. Ozsvath added an insurance goal for the Seawolves in the fourth quarter. Stony Brook's John Dobias and PC's Brian McCarthy each made 17 stops in the game. With the win, Stony Brook raised its record to 1-2 while Providence fell to 0-4 overall. The Friars will return to action on March 20 against Fairfield at PC's Glay Field at 2:00 p.m. at STONY BROOK, N.Y.
