PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College Friars defeated Quinnipiac College, 22-9, Saturday, March 14 in men's lacrosse action at PC's Glay Field. Junior Matt Pymm paced the Friar offense with three goals and six assists.
PC got goals from seven different players in the first 15 and jumped out to a 7-3 first quarter lead. The Friars increased their lead over the final 45 minutes scoring five goals in each of the last three quarters.
Freshman Jeff Merklinger and senior Jason Hanrahan each tallied a game high four goals for the Friars. Sophomore Brian Perry added three goals to lead Quinnipiac.
Providence netminders Brian McCarthy and Rob Chambers combined made nine stops. Quinnipiac goalkeeper Jason Boggs-True made 17 saves in the loss.
With the win Providence raised its record to 1-1 overall, while Quinnipiac dropped to 0-1 overall.
PC returns to action on Wednesday, March 18 against the St. Joseph's in Philadelphia, Pa.
