PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
The Providence College men's lacrosse team was defeated, 7-3, at the hands of Brown University on Saturday, March 10 Friar Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex in Providence, R.I. The Friars drop to 0-3 on the season while Brown improves to 2-1.
Junior Devin McBride (Marblehead, Mass.) scored two of the Friars' three goals both coming unassisted. Graduate student Michael Farley (Westfield, N.J.) had the third Providence goal on an assist from junior Robert Lamontagne (Pittsford, N.Y.).
Brown took a 3-0 lead before Providence tallied its first goal. McBride took advantage of a breakaway as he found the back of the net for a man down goal. The Bears would continue their hot shooting in the third quarter taking a 5-1 lead before McBride registered his second goal of the contest.
The Bears led the entire way and surrendered a third Providence goal midway through the third period when PC's Farley connected on a pass from Lamontagne. Both teams went scoreless the rest of the way and the game ended, 7-3, in favor of Brown.
Senior goaltender Peter Littell (Upper Montclair, N.J.) played 59:37 minutes, allowed seven goals and made 13 saves. Jordan Burke earned the win between the pipes for Brown with seven saves.
Providence (0-3) returns to action on Saturday, March 17 against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Canisius at 1:00 p.m. The game will be played at the Friar Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex in Providence, R.I.
