Men's Lacrosse Routs Wagner, 19-2
FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Senior Ken Leahy tallied three goals and three assists to lead Providence College to a 19-2 win against Wagner College in MAAC men's lacrosse action at Fairfield, Conn. on Saturday, March 4. The Friars took a 5-1 lead after the first 15 minutes of play and never looked back. The Friars increased their lead to 8-1 at halftime. Leahy led the Friars in the first half with two goals. Providence came out strong in the second half, outscoring Wagner, 11-1. Junior Jeff Merklinger, freshman Cameron Roller, sophomore Steve Heo, freshman Rick Aurigemma and junior John Pisinski each scored two goals for PC. PC goaltenders senior Brian McCarthy, freshman John Farley and senior Kevin Kelly all combined to 10 saves for the Friars. With the win, Providence raised its record to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the MAAC, while Wagner fell to 0-2 overall 0-2 in league play. The Friars will return to action on Wednesday, March 15 against Sacred Heart at PC's Glay Field at 3:00 p.m.
