Men's Lacrosse Edged by Mt. St. Mary's, 8-7
BALTIMORE, Md. -- Mount St. Mary's defeated Providence College, 8-7, on Wednesday, March 3 in men's lacrosse action at Baltimore, Md. The Friars scored five unanswered goals in the final 25 minutes of the game, but could not overcome a six-goal deficit as PC dropped its Metro Atlantic Atletic Conference opener.
Mount St. Mary's led 5-2 after 30 minutes of play. Ken Leahy provided all the offense for the Friars in the first half, scoring both of PC's goals. Trevor Harvey scored his third goal of the game and Mount St. Mary's eighth tally with 9:42 remaining in the third quarter to increase Mount's lead to 8-2. After Harvey's third goal, the Friars offense went to work as PC tallied five goals, including two more by Leahy, to cut Mount's lead to 8-7. However, PC could not get the game-tying goal and lost its second game of the season. With the win Mount St. Mary's raised its record to 1-0 and 1-0 in MAAC action while Providence fell to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in league play.
