Mascia and Wright Named Honored

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College lacrosse players James Mascia of Parsippany, N.Y., and Mike Wright of East Amherst, N.Y. were named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic Team. To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be a starter or a significant reserve and hold a grade point average of 3.20 or better.

Mascia, a psychology major with a 3.33 cumulative grade point average, started 15 games as a midfielder this year for the Friars. The junior from Parsippany, N.Y., established a team record for groundballs with 118. He also scored three goals and added one assist.

Wright, a history/secondary education major, has earned a 3.47 cumulative grade point average in three years a Providence. He played in 14 games on defense this season and finished second on the team in groundballs with 65.

Providence finished the season with a 6-9 overall mark and a 5-3 record in MAAC action.
