    WAKEFIELD, Mass. -

    Following a two-assist performance in a 4-4 tie with Vermont on Dec. 20, senior forward Tim Schaller (Merrimack, N.H.) was named the Athletic Republic Co-Player of the Week, it was announced by Hockey East on Monday evening.
     
    With the tie, Schaller and the Friars closed 2012 with a 7-6-3 overall record and a 5-4-2 mark in Hockey East – good for fourth in the league standings. Schaller now has an active four-game point streak (2-4-6) and has nine points on four goals and five assists this season.
     
    Schaller joins Derek Army (North Kingstown, R.I.) as Friars who have earned Hockey East Player of the Week honors this season (Army earned his award on Nov. 19).
     
    Providence returns to action on Jan. 4 when it travels to Mankato, Minn. to take on Minnesota State in a two-game series. Friday night's game is scheduled for 8:37 p.m.
