Dec. 3, 2009
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (December 3, 2009) - The Clarke Family invites you to join them on Saturday, December 12 as they celebrate the dedication, perseverance and life of long time season ticket holder Penny Clarke, R.N. who lost her courageous battle with lung disease on February 28, 2009.
Join us on Saturday, December 12 as the Friars take on the Eagles of Boston College beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Schneider Arena. A pregame ceremony and framed jersey presentation to honor Penny will take place.
Penny was a registered nurse with West Bay Orthopedics and worked with many of the men's ice hockey team members from 1987 until she retired in 1994. Penny was also an avid hockey fan, following PC Hockey at home and on the road. A season ticket holder since 1988, Penny attended every home and away game that her health would allow. Along with her husband Cortlandt `67, and daughters Sara and Becky, Penny supported the Providence College Hockey Program for over 20 years.
In honor of her legacy, the Clarke family has funded the Penny Clarke Men's Ice Hockey Endowment Fund. The fund will allow the athletic director and head men's ice hockey coach to enhance all areas of the program including facilities, scholarships, equipment, recruiting, and travel.
