After scoring three goals and adding an assist in a weekend sweep at Vermont, junior forward Ross Mauermann (Janesville, Wis.) has been named the Hockey East’s Warrior Hockey Player of the Week (Nov. 18).
The Friars defeated Vermont 3-2 on Friday night and followed with a 3-0 win on Saturday en route to being named the Hockey East Team of the Week. The Friars are now 9-1-1 on the season and atop the Hockey East standings with a 5-1-0 league record. Providence was also named the Hockey East Team of the Week on Oct. 14
Mauermann, who was also named the Hockey East Player of the Week on Nov. 4, scored two goals in Friday night’s win and then netted the game-winning goal and an assist on Saturday. He now has 10 goals and eight assists for 18 points this season, tied for third in the nation. Mauermann has six multi-point games this season and has at least one point in nine of Providence’s 11 games.
The Friars are home for a two-game series versus New Hampshire next weekend. Game one is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22 and will be televised locally on Cox Sports on OSN.
