Providence, R.I. - This upcoming season, the Providence College men's hockey team will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Hockey East Association, which was founded for the 1984-85 season. As part of this year's celebration, the Friars will present the fans with an opportunity to select the top 25 players who have skated for PC since the inception of Hockey East.

Starting on the first game of the 2008-09 season, Friar fans will be able to go online to friars.com and vote for who they think are the 25 greatest Friars from the last 24 seasons. Fans will have a list of 45 players to choose from. Voting will take place from Friday, October 17, 2008 until Thursday, January 15, 2009. The final results will be announced at the home game against Boston College on Saturday, February 28, 2009.
