    PROVIDENCE, R.I. -

    It was announced today (Sept. 30) that the Providence College men’s hockey team has been ranked 14th in the USCHO.com preseason poll.

    The Friars are one of six Hockey East teams ranked in USCHO.com’s preseason top-20, joining UMass-Lowell (1), Boston College (4), Notre Dame (8), New Hampshire (13) and Boston University (19). In addition to two games versus each of those Hockey East opponents, the Friars will also play two games against Miami (2) and Minnesota State (11) as well as a single game at Quinnipiac (10) for 15 total games against preseason top-20 teams.  

    Providence, which was ranked 15th in the USA Today/USAHM preseason poll (Sept. 23), will open the 2013-14 season with a pair of 7:00 p.m. home games against No. 14/11 Minnesota State on Friday, Oct. 11 and Saturday, Oct. 12 at newly renovated Schneider Arena.
